John Bramwell ( I Am Kloot) / Live Solo Show / Pop Recs / Sunderland

John Bramwell has spent decades quietly becoming one of Britain’s most treasured songwriters. As the unmistakable voice behind Manchester cult favourites I Am Kloot, Bramwell helped craft a catalogue of bruised, beautiful songs that earned a fiercely devoted following and a Mercury Prize nomination for the band’s acclaimed 2010 album Sky at Night. (Wikipedia) Whether delivering razor-sharp one-liners or heartbreaking reflections, Bramwell’s songwriting has always balanced humour, melancholy and hard-won tenderness in equal measure. From early classics like “Proof”, “Over My Shoulder” and “From Your Favourite Sky” through to more recent solo material, his songs remain some of the most affecting to emerge from the North of England in the last two decades. (Wikipedia) Live, Bramwell is a master storyteller — switching effortlessly between devastating intimacy, offbeat wit and singalong catharsis. Armed with little more than an acoustic guitar and that unmistakable voice, his solo performances strip the songs back to their emotional core while allowing his warmth and humour to shine through. Recent solo shows have been praised for their heartfelt atmosphere, playful banter and spellbinding connection with audiences. (themet.org.uk) Pop Recs is delighted to welcome John Bramwell for a very special solo performance on Saturday 24th October.
